Can Joe Biden ‘shut down the border’ on his personal?

President Joe Biden claims he has carried out anything less than his authority to try out to lower unlawful immigration at the U.S. southern border, and that he’ll be able to do extra the moment Congress passes a new bill. But Republicans disagree.

Biden mentioned Jan. 26 that he’s waiting for a bipartisan monthly bill currently being negotiated in the Senate to give him additional sources and “a new emergency authority to shut down the border when it gets to be overwhelmed.”

While the bill’s textual content remains under wraps, Dwelling Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., suggests Biden doesn’t require new authority to lessen unlawful border crossings. Immigration legislation and current Supreme Courtroom precedents previously give Biden the authority to protected the border, Johnson reported in a Jan. 27 submit on X, previously Twitter.
